dear you: please remember

Dear You… Please Remember:

Beauty is important (and it’s everywhere if you have the eyes to see, and the ears to hear).

These are the first words in my new journal (pictured, left).

I’m so in love with it already, and this was the perfect place for me to start.

See… beauty is so important to me. It always has been.

I know that it’s super important to so many others too, but we’re not talking about the ‘be-a-super-model-then-you-can-be-beautiful!’ version of beauty here.

Not by a long shot.

I’m talking about the beauty of waking in the morning and watching the sky change shades two dozen times before the sun rises.

I’m talking about the beauty of the human face. No makeup. No muss. No fuss. Just you.

I’m talking about the beauty of a really fabulous book. One you nearly start salivating over because you *know* it’s gonna be just that good.

I’m talking about the beauty of being cold and stepping into a hot shower (gave me chills to even think about it… such a delicious feeling!).

I’m talking about the beauty of nature. All of it. Even the parts we don’t generally think of as beautiful.

I’m talking about the beauty of a single candle flame, and all its mesmerizing qualities.

I’m talking, too, about the beauty of this deeeeeeep breath.

Yes.

This breath contains within it beauty, possibility, and love in ‘physical’ form. We’re breathing these things in and out, nearly every moment of our lives.

It’s all there.

Breathe it in, my chicky.

Breathe it all in… and then let it go again. There’s always more.

I’m writing to you today under the watchful eye and energy of the medicine of Dog.

Loyalty.

Service.

I bring this to you with the desire for nothing more than that this touch the part of you that craves the recognition of something more, and at the same time knows that you need nothing more to have that something more.

I am sending you so much love. I hope you feel it.

Simply lovely, Angel. I feel it. Thank you. ♥

  2. Leah Shapiro says:

Very nice! I’m breathing it in right now…..then releasing it back to you.

It’s like looking for things that make you happy! Such a wonderful practice that leads to so much happiness.

    Rock on Angel!

    • Angel says:

      Leah! Yay!

Love that “then releasing it back to you”. Gorgeousness <3

Exactly! Like looking for the things that make you happy… yes.

      Thanks for being here… <3

  3. You know I feel it, Angel.

And I so appreciate you giving me my own (sweet) medicine of the reminder of beauty all around and within us… everywhere. EVERYwhere. in EVERYthing. If we just stop to look. Like right now I’m noticing the beauty of the colors in the icons across the bottom of my screen. And the delicious tak-tak-tak-tak-tak of the computer keys. And the way we can actually feel our own heart beating.. and the way the beat changes depending on what we see… hear… taste…touch…

One of the wonderful side-effects of moving to the city has been a hyper-sensitivity to the noticing of beauty … I think because I’m always a little nervous that maybe the city will eat up my necessary daily doses of beauty. Turns out my definition of beauty is expanding/deepening. Beauty being simply a contrast of textures that catches my eye. Beauty being the way a rooftop slashes across a blue sky. Beauty being a wisp of green weed against the crumbling mortar of an abandoned building.

So much more to express, but you get the point, I bet. :)

Oh, AND… I LOVE “Dear You, Please remember….” I think my journal would like that phrase too. I’ll be borrowing it…
    xo

    • Angel says:

STARLA!!! (Oh you know I have to do that on our call tomorrow, right???) ;-)

So glad you feel it too…. The reminder that it’s always there… Yes, exactly <3

      In everything, in every moment.

But god, it’s so damn easy to forget, isn’t it???

Ohhhh, I adore your examples… the sounds the computer keys make, the heart beat changing…

How interesting too that your definition of beauty is expanding now. I would’ve had the same concern about the city eating up your daily dose… Oh I do love your examples… so so much.

Fabulous!! Love that you enjoy the ‘Dear you’ bit. I chose a picture that I wanted to be first thing in my new journal (it’s of three gorgeous rays underwater at Stingray City in the Caymans) and as soon as I got it down that phrase popped into my head along with the beauty bit. Divinely guided there… You know I *love* that… :-)

      Thanks, always, for being here…

  4. A post of great BEAUTY Angel. Very real and grounding. Thank you lovely one!

  5. Marjory says:

    Lovely words Angel,
beauty is so overlooked and yet so accessible in every moment. I love that you have the word remember on your journal, re member, a coming together in the healing process that reveals our inherent wholeness. Breathing with you.

    • Angel says:

Exactly! Overlooked, yet so accessible in every moment… that’s exactly it. :-)

      Ahhh, yes.. breathing together.

      Thanks Marjory <3

  6. Jessica says:

I love the beauty of something aged and well loved — a house with a doorway measuring stick of childrens’ growth, a piece of china with chips at the edge, a silver keychain all worn and dented from years of carrying in the pocket. Gorgeous post – can’t wait to read more.

    • Angel says:

Oooh, those are great visuals, Jessica!!

That made me wonder if you’re on Pinterest… cause if so I totally want to follow you there!

      :-)

  7. Bri Saussy says:

Angel, this was so excellent to read. Beauty is something that absolutely nourishes me and feeds me-but I forget about it all too easily. Its interesting that I read this post today because I was just re-kindling my love affair with pinterest-collaging is something that I have always found beautiful and meaningful. Thanks for the reminder.

    • Angel says:

Yay! Glad it was meaningful for you, Bri!!

It’s SO easy to forget.. frustratingly so. That’s actually part of what this journal is about for me. I wanted to create it from scratch (it’s actually a library book that I’m re-creating from what it once was) and make it all about remembering these things that feed me and make me feel good…

Ooh, I’ve gotta find you on Pinterest if I’m not already following you. I’m in love with it and collage too…

      Thanks for your comment <3

I’d love to!!! (Especially if you dig dragonflies… anyone who digs dragonflies is a friend of mine for SURE!!)

      Thanks for being here! <3

  9. Claire says:

Wow! Just wow! My goal this year is to celebrate abundance and in doing that I have been appreciating just how much beauty surrounds me. Your post is wonderful and has left me witha very happy glow. Thank you.

    • Angel says:

Ooohhhh, yes Claire!! Celebrating abundance and doing that by appreciating the beauty around… I so love this… I’m in the midst of 1 year of daily gratitude over on my facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MosaicPieces) and that’s part of what inspired this journal and this post!!!

We’re so on the same page. Love that :-)

  11. Megan Potter says:

Sigh…. Angel, I hope you know how wonderous-a-full your writing is. Thanks for this BEAUTIFUL gift.

    Yours,

  12. Mel says:

Beauty is an important subject in my life as you know because I am so tired of hearing people longing for a fictional future where everything is in place and just right and they can feel beautiful then, rather than enjoying the place they hold right now.
